Not our house (yet); just the website. Since Apple has decided to scrap the whole iWeb/MobileMe web infrastructure in favor of iCloud, Huxtable.org needed to find a new home. So, we decided to take our talents to WordPress.com; our photo gallery will be hosted on Brian’s Flickr account. All blog posts have been migrated to the new site.
Update: the previous Huxtable.org web site and gallery will be available until June 2012.
It’s been nearly a year since the last blog post. Fortunately, nothing, really, happened in the past year. So I would like to write a short post about the few highlights from these past seasons.
Jeff and Kathy made a stop in Pittsburgh in early August. Kathy was taking some quality sabbatical time in her hometown in Ohio. On their return trip to the Carolinas they spent a weekend in western PA.
We used this opportunity to see a Pirates game. They played the Colorado Rockies (and won), but that was secondary to the promotion. That evening’s game was also a SkyBlast which features fireworks and a live performance (George Thorogood for this SkyBlast). As with all games Jeff and Brian see together, this one took an awful long time and went into extra innings. The fireworks and band didn’t get started until after 11:30. With tired kids we weren’t able to stay for the whole hour-long show. Continue reading
Kate is rolling with a new set of wheels. Today, we picked up our new minivan, a 2011 Toyota Sienna. What, we bought a van from the company with all the quality problems? That’s right. We prefer some adventure in our lives. Continue reading
Introducing the newest additions to our family: Cody and Cloe. These two adorable kittens are about 4 1/2 months old. We adopted them from the Butler County Humane Society this past weekend. These tabbies are quite playful and affectionate; it won’t be long before they get into a lot of trouble. Continue reading
We have not posted to this blog for a few months. That’s mainly because nothing from the list has been completed recently. However, we did do some things:
Halloween, surprisingly, arrived at the end of October. This year the date fell on a Saturday. 
For our neighborhood, that meant we could get the kids out trick-or-treating and have an outdoor party. Yes, it was warm enough to have an outdoor party. In our years in MN, it was never that warm to support an outdoor party. In fact, most of the time we froze our behinds just taking the kids around the neighborhood. Continue reading
The new Westinghouse office in Cranberry Woods had an open house today for employees. Building 1 construction was completed in late spring and has been occupied for a few months now. This is the main building with the cafeteria, workout center, auditoriums, customer center, and the swank offices of our upper management. The whole building was open and we were able to tour all those places. I can tell you that the view from the top floor is nice.
Buildings 2 and 3 are currently under construction and should be completed this coming winter. Buildings 2 and 3 are attached to Building 1. My department will be in Building 4 which is a newer construction project that won’t be complete for another year. Building 4 is not connected to the main building; that is unfortunate.
The Summer of 2009 started with our Disney trip. Looking back on the summer, it seems that we didn’t do too much after that.
We spent a lot of time at the local pool. We didn’t get too many hot days. The pool was more of an activity that a relief. The kids enjoyed it. Continue reading
Natalie’s picture showed up in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette this week. Her class was painting snow plows for an art project. See the full article/picture here.
Natalie went horseback riding to earn the coveted Horse Fan badge for Juniors. The riding took place at the Little Neshannock Stables. This ‘local’ stable was nearly an hour away.
The troop learned about the two types of horseback riding (English and Western). Then it was on to grooming, feeding, and saddling. The girls were also shown how to put on the bridle and bit and clean the shoes. Continue reading
